Soul's Remnant Ironman Mode
Ironman is Soul's Remnant's self-sufficiency challenge mode: no trading, no outside parties, and a Hardcore badge you lose when you die. Here is exactly how Hardcore and Group Ironman work, and how to start — or leave.
What is Ironman?
When you create a character in Soul's Remnant, you can choose to play as an Ironman — a challenge mode built around full self-sufficiency. Ironman characters cannot trade with regular players, cannot join outside parties or guilds, and must earn every item themselves.
Hardcore Ironman Rules
- No trading with other players.
- No parties or guilds with other players.
- No shared EXP — you gain no experience from monsters that other players contributed damage to.
- No shared loot — you cannot pick up items dropped by monsters you received help killing.
You start as a Hardcore Ironman. If you die, you keep playing as an Ironman with all the same restrictions, but your Hardcore status — and its badge — is gone for good.
Group Ironman Rules
Group Ironman (2–5 members) applies the same restrictions with one exception: your group is a closed circle. You can trade, party up, and form a guild together — but only with each other.
- The group shares a pool of lives — one per member. A 5-player group has 5 lives.
- Every death — by anyone — consumes one life from the shared pool.
- When the pool runs out, everyone keeps playing as Group Ironman but loses Hardcore status. One teammate dying 6 times costs the whole group its badge.
- Track remaining lives in the Misc tab of the Guild Window
N. - You can leave your group at any time, but you cannot rejoin — leaving turns you into a solo Ironman.
How to Start (Deferri Crystal)
Becoming an Ironman happens in the very first tutorial map — and it is deliberately hidden behind a small platforming check. You must make some tricky jumps to reach the floating Deferri Crystal, then interact with it and confirm your choice.

Hardcore Group Ironman
A side benefit: forming a Hardcore Group Ironman immediately creates your guild together — skipping the usual 1,000 Soul Crystal cost.
Badges & Hardcore Status
Your Ironman status is public. A badge sits to the right of your name and on the character select screen:

Guild Benefits
Normally, leveling a guild requires a minimum number of current members. For both Ironman types, that member requirement is removed — so level your guild and take the guild perks. Leaving the group guild turns you into a solo Ironman.
How to De-Ironman
After the tutorial, the Deferri Crystal rests below the bridge in Spawn. Interacting with it explains how to remove your Ironman status: the icon next to your name disappears and you become a standard character who can trade and party freely. Any items in your storage are mailed to you.
De-Ironman is permanent in one direction — once normal, you can never be an Ironman on that character again. Still gearing up? Check the Beginner Guide and the Dungeons guide before committing a Hardcore run.
