Soul's Remnant Skills: Unlocks, SP & Combos
Find a skill's requirements, understand what you are paying for, and build a hotbar you can control. Start with the unlock table, then set up your first Combo.
What to Do First
Open the skill window with K. Learning a skill and activating it are separate steps: check the materials needed to learn it, then meet its activation requirements and choose an Active Level that fits your available SP. For a concrete starting loadout, use our three starter skill combinations.
Learning a Skill vs Activating It
Learned Level
Active Level
The official Skills reference records no Soul Crystal activation charge for Active Level 5 or lower. This refers to the skill's active level, not your character level. Each skill tab allows one active Basic Attack; activating it also enables its listed perks.
Early Skills and Their Unlock Requirements
The official community wiki lists category-passive levels under activation requirements and records learning materials separately. Melee 4 means category-passive level 4, not character level 4. “None listed” only describes the learning-material row; it does not mean every activation or upgrade is free.
| Skill / source | Category level to activate | Learning material | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slash | Melee 1 | None listed | Basic close-range attack |
| Heavy Strike | Melee 4 | 3 Dull Life Essence | Overhead attack with knockback |
| Magic Burst | Magic 1 | None listed | Cone attack with an active MP-recovery perk |
| Gust | Magic 4 | 3 Dull Life Essence | Forward wind attack with knockback |
| Blink | Magic 9 | 10 Dull Life Essence | Directional teleport |
| Ninja Throw | Range 1 | None listed | Throwing-knife basic attack |
| Dash | Range 8 | 8 Dull Life Essence | Directional movement; release early to stop |
| Nova | Faith 1 | None listed | Circular attack that also reaches behind you |
| Revitalize | Faith 10 | 12 Dull Life Essence | Area healing for players and damage to enemies |
Individual wiki tables can lag behind patches. Use the learning and activation windows to confirm today's requirement before spending resources. This table deliberately omits damage coefficients and a universal SP formula where the published records disagree.
Check Which Cost You Are Paying
For example, the Magic Burst record lists its learned-level-2 upgrade as 3 Dull Life Essence and 100 Soul Crystals after the required EXP. That is an upgrade recipe, separate from the SP needed to activate the skill.
- Learning: check the learning-material row in the table above and the current learning window.
- Upgrading: check the next learned level, EXP and material requirements. Do not assume every level uses the same recipe.
- Activating: meet the category-passive requirement and choose an affordable Active Level in the dialog. Learning a skill does not automatically equip it.
Dungeon Crystals appear in later upgrade records, but they are not the only material used by early skills. Check the required item before farming dungeon rewards.
How to Set Up a Combo
- Open K → Combos at the bottom left of the skill window.
- Choose one of the five colored Combo icons and drag skills into its slots, up to six per group.
- Arrange skills in the order you want them to execute, from left to right.
- Drag the colored icon to your hotbar. Holding its key repeats the sequence; the setup is saved with the loadout.
Start with two attacks. Test their range, resource use and movement before extending the sequence. Keep a directional escape such as Blink or Dash on a separate button while learning; that is a control suggestion, not a measured damage advantage.
Attribute Resets Are a Different System
The Player Stats reference records one reset per real-world hour, free below character level 10, with a level-dependent Soul Crystal charge at level 10 and above. Check the reset window for the actual price. Resetting attributes is different from selecting a skill's Active Level.
STR supports melee damage, DEX ranged, INT magic and SPR faith. Those relationships help select a route; they do not establish a single optimal allocation. Match your skills first, then judge survivability and resources in the content you actually play.
Practice Before Adding More Skills
The August 28 developer update added training dummies to market hubs. Try a short sequence there, then check it against moving enemies: a dummy cannot tell you whether knockback leaves your next attack out of range.
- Compare separate buttons with a two-skill Combo at the same Active Levels.
- Watch MP over several repetitions and notice attacks that miss after movement.
- Practice stopping the sequence to dodge, then save a loadout you can repeat.
Gust's August 21 patch reduced its cooldown to 3 seconds. Blink gained a short invulnerability window on August 28, and Blink/Dash received tight-space fixes on September 4. Treat older videos as version-specific rather than copying their timing unchanged.
Where Life Skills Fit
Combat loadouts are one part of progression. For gathering, recipe requirements and crafting stations, use the official Crafting reference. The August 31 patch added material-based recipe search: look up a material to see the recipes that use it.
Sources and Version Notes
Sources reviewed September 10, 2026. Wiki facts were checked against available search-indexed records; some individual skill tables date to August 12 and were not verified in the live client. Skill links in the table lead to the community-maintained official wiki. Where a developer patch changes a value, the patch takes precedence.
